ROB TENNET (PRINCIPAL)

Rob Tennet grew up in Solihull and qualified from Newcastle Dental School in 1988, his past experience includes Running both the Occupational Dental services for IMI plc and Cadbury Ltd,. he was also an honorary tutor of Biomedical ethics at Birmingham Medical School. Currently he is the Principal of the StJohns Dental Practice, and additionally provides Dental Implant services for the Cadbury Dental Practice and the Smileworks Dental Group.

Professional Interests include dental implants, endodontics and adult restorative cases. He predominantly places Straumann Dental Implants but has experience of other systems including  Densply, Astratech implants. Memberships include British Association of Cosmetic Dentistry, the Association of Dental Implantology, and the British Dental Association.

Outside dentistry Rob has a lot still to learn about beekeeping, flyfishing and maintaining an Alfa Romeo S4 spider.

SHABNEEZ MEHRALI

BDS,MFGDP (UK), DPDS

Shabneez has held previous positions at The Dental Clinic / Optical express and Boots plc Dental clinics. She also works part time in a specialist Orthodontic practice in Malvern and Smile Concepts in Solihull. Her interests are cosmetic dentistry and tooth alignment (adult orthodontics) Outside dentistry Shabneez enjoys home renovations and charity event organising.

GHAZANFAR HUSSAIN

Ghaz Hussain spent his youth in Derby. He Qualified from Sheffield Dental School in the early 1980’s. He has been settled in Sutton Coldfield since 1988. Ghaz Hussain successfully ran his own dental practice for 14 years. Ghaz has a special interest in cosmetic dentistry and facial aesthetics. He is a member of the British Dental Association, the Dental and Facial Aesthetics Association and the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry.

ANDY WHEELER

Andy Wheeler grew up in Staffordshire and qualified from Birmingham Dental School in 1988. His past dental experience includes a clinical assistant position in orthodontics (tooth alignment) at Heartlands Hospital. Andy was the Principal dentist at IMI’s Dental Practice in Holford. He has over 8 years experience of occupational dental provision, he is a first aid/ resuscitation instructor. Andy is a keen cyclist and a 15 times marathon runner.

Sue Fernyhough

EDH CERT IN DENTAL HYGIENE U.BIRM 1973

Sue Fernyhough has been working in Dentistry since 1968. Sue qualified from Birmingham in 1972. The longest serving member of the team Sue joined the Team at Bennett’s Hill 42 years ago. A short break occurred when Sue took senior teaching post at Birmingham University’s School of Dental Hygiene. During Sue’s time at the dental hospital she set up the 1st ever scientific meeting for Hygienists society which has now grown into a nationwide event. Whilst Bennett’s Hill has always featured as part of Sue’s working life, Sue also has experience of a range of practices both Private and NHS. Sue also participates in running her own karate club. She also was a finalist for the Private Dentistry Hygienist of the year 2019.

Kirsty Payne

DIP DENT HYGIENE BIRM 2002

Kirsty grew up in Edgbaston and now lives near Sutton Coldfield with her husband and young daughter. She started her career in dentistry as dental nurse in 1997, gaining valuable experience in the Community Dental Service and in General Practice. Kirsty qualified as a Dental Hygienist from Birmingham Dental Hospital 2002 with a distinction in Clinical Dentistry and Oral health Promotion.  She is a member of the British Society of Dental Hygiene and Therapy and attends regular courses for continuous professional development and to keep up to date. Kirsty has a very warm caring gentle approach. In her spare time Kirsty loves to socialise and travel.

Aleema Akhtar

BSC HYGIENE & THERAPY BIRM 2018

Aleema qualified in July 2018 from university of Birmingham in Dental Hygiene and Therapy. She opted for a complete dental foundation programme in Dental Therapy in 2019 in a busy NHS practice. She works in several practice carrying out cosmetic private treatment. She has a very caring approach and desire for perfection when treating her patients. She is a fantastic member of our team. In her spare time she loves to cook and do flower arranging.

GURJIT SONSOY

PRACTICE MANAGER

Gurjit Sonsoy joined St John’s Dental Practice in 2005. She qualified as a Dental Nurse from Matthew Boulton College in 2005. Gurjit works alongside the principle dental surgeon Dr Robert Tennet during implant surgery and has completed the Astra and Straumann Implant training course. Gurjit knows all the patients so well and makes sure all are welcome and puts everyone at ease. Gurjit ensures the smooth running of our practice and is the CQC manager. She ensures that the team, practice and patients are in safe hands.
